In case you’re wondering what the lightest saddle on the market is, it’s this one, the Selle Italia SLR C59 Carbon Saddle. It weighs in at 63g, though samples have hit the 59g of the saddle’s name. C is for carbon. SLR refers to the shape.

The saddle is an all-carbon evolution of their SLR Tekno Flow saddle, only with everything in carbon. At 110g, that wasn’t light enough. Here, the rails, the body, the, well, actually, that’s everything. No padding, just sculpted carbon-fiber and a generous pressure-relief cutout.

The C59 is beyond pro. Well beyond. UCI regulations being what they are, this saddle would make a pro bike too light. The C59 is for people who are looking to build helium-light bikes and see their saddle as something that is not for sitting, but is for holding one’s position. The saddle shape has flex built in to it, and does a great job dispersing weight, but it’s not cushy in the least. It’s efficient, highly efficient.

The dimensions of the Selle Italia SLR C59 are 128mm wide by 265mm long. The rails are 7x9mm carbon-these rails are super-strong, but don’t fit in all saddle clamps. Check your clamp design first; in some cases, your seat post manufacturer has made a second clamp specific for this carbon rail dimension. For those familiar with Selle Italia’s ID Match system, the shape corresponds with S3.
